Learning Connections (LC) supports educators across the province with access to applications, technology, professional learning, collaboration opportunities and a vast learning community. LC members network and share through face-to-face conferences, monthly online meetings and the Learning Connections website. Our goal is to enhance literacy and numeracy instructional practice through the effective use of technology.

Available for educators in publicly funded schools across Ontario, LC is funded by a grant from the Literacy & Numeracy Secretariat (LNS) of the Ontario Ministry of Education (www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/literacynumeracy). This is Phase 12 of funding from the LNS in which LC builds upon the exemplary practice of its sister program ABEL at York University.  LC conducts research and evaluates the work of the program.

Winning Districts in Learning Connections  

Ottawa Catholic School Board Selected for “Innovation that Sticks” Program 

The Canadian Education Association (CEA) has selected Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) for their “Innovation the Sticks” School District Case Study.  The CEA will research the transformative practices within OCSB to meet the needs of all their learners as they scale innovative practices throughout their schools.  Learn more about the program on the CEA site or check out the Canada Newswire press release.  Congratulations Ottawa Catholic School Board!


Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Wins 2015 TEAMS Award 

Every two years the Gale/Library Media Connections TEAMS Award is given to three schools across United States or Canada acknowledging teacher and media specialists teams that collaborate to improve student achievement.  One of the recipients this year was Murray Centennial Public School in KPRDSB for their project “Our Community Aurasma Gallery Walk”. Teacher Librarian, Mary Walker Hope, and grade one teachers collaborated to have students create a 3D gallery about their community.  Congratulations to the team at Murray Centennial!

LC Works with the LNS to Support Educators

It aims to provide Ontario K-12 educators with information and resources to support their on-going work in the area of system implementation and monitoring.
