We are looking at the use of Adobe Connect for development of Professional Collaboration, Voicethread and a Learning Management System to support blended learning and e-portfolios. Although we do not use the particular tools offered by LC, it is the application of these tools that we stand to benefit from when collaborating with the Learning Connections Community. (For example, we would like to collaborate on the feasibility of using VoiceThread for e-portfolios.) LC has many participants using Moodle and Voicethread in ways that we can benefit from. Teachers will be encouraged to participate in the virtual training opportunities, and book studies available through LC and Abel. We will train them with Adobe Connect and other Learning Connection Tools, and use online meetings to introduce new initiatives. Interested teachers need to contact Learning Connections if they want to pilot some of their newer tools, and we will try to recruit volunteers to be involved with this. We will also request that teachers share their pilot results with the LC and TLDSB communities.
Success Criteria:
We will try to determine the effectiveness of the ILT Champion role by gauging the level of use and teacher involvement in collaborative online tools; by surveying principals and teachers; by our own observation in schools. We have experienced a great increase in momentum with regards to the use of technology in our schools – largely due to initiatives that we have undertaken over the past three years. We would like to build on this momentum.
