ASI 2010: Creating the Future Now is intended as both a guided and self-directed exploration of twenty-first century educational tools and knowledge building approaches that will create the future for teaching and learning now, and prepare all learners for success.
Through this year’s theme, the ABEL Summer Institute strives to promote the following goals:
- Develop new knowledge and skills required to prepare learners for the future
- Understand the value of job-embedded learning and collaborative knowledge communities for teacher efficacy, classroom practice and student achievement,
- Heightened awareness of how new technological tools and resources enrich classroom learning, increase engagement, and build community;
- Expanded opportunities to reflect as individuals and push thinking to higher levels, to share as school teams, to shape new learning experiences and to benefit from ongoing professional learning;
- Share ideas to inform innovative teaching and learning practice that builds professional communities of practice;
- Increased engagement in constructing effective twenty-first century learning that leverages social innovation, and builds knowledge community and sets direction for future planning; and,
- Participate in a greener, more environmentally friendly learning and leadership experience at the annual summer institute.
